Special Risk Insurance Managers is currently seeking a Claims Liaison to join our growing team. This is a key role with room for further growth within our company. We have multiple locations across Canada and offer remote work options as well.

As Claims Liaison, you will:

  • Coordinate with SRIM Underwriting teammates to gather documentation, verify accurate information and provide responses related to basic claims inquiries received from various adjusters, market partners and London brokers
  • Coordinate with Chief Underwriting Officer and VP of Underwriting to manage inquiries, to gather documentation, verify accurate information and draft responses related to complex claims involving wordings conflicts, breach of policy terms & conditions and denials received from various adjusters, market partners and London brokers
  • Review claims notifications & updates to monitor & report on potential loss trends and/or underwriting concerns
  • Analyze and interpret claims data, identifying trends and patterns, and providing insights to help drive business decisions.
  • Monitor outstanding Property & Liability claims activity, obtain & report with periodic updates. Create & continually update a report noting large reserve increases, unusual delays or underwriting concerns.
  • Coordinate with Chief Underwriting Officer & Third-Party Administrators and Insurer claims representatives for a monthly claims meeting to discuss claims trends within the industry and SRIM’s portfolio
  • Obtain detailed loss ratio breakdowns from Third Party Administrators and Insurer claims representatives &/or our London brokers as requested
  • Provide claims related analysis & commentary as requested
  • Stay up-to-date on legislative & regulatory changes and trends that may affect the organization and its partners from a claim’s perspective
  • Build and maintain strong relationships including attending meetings, events, and conferences as needed
  • Collaborate with SRIM Underwriting leadership & Third-Party Administrators and Insurer claims representatives to identify areas of potential improvement in wordings and claims outcomes with a view to developing strategies to achieve shared goals
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations to present complex claims data in a clear and concise manner.
  • Additional duties as the Chief Underwriting Officer sees fit and assigns

What you bring to the team:

  • Experience dealing with claims from First Notification of Loss to resolution.
  • Knowledge of property & complex casualty claims and the confidence to coordinate and initiate discussions with our underwriters, leadership team, adjusters and market partners
  • Strong written & verbal interpersonal & negotiation skills
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and time management skills to complete assignments efficiently and within structured timelines
  • An eye for detail to provide reports with a high degree of accuracy
  • Positive, self-driven, and disciplined attitude with a solutions focus
  • Ability to work harmoniously in a team environment & collaborate with teammates
  • Flexible and adaptable to change
  • Working level knowledge & ability to use Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook & the ability to create & manipulate Excel spreadsheets
  • Level 1 – General Insurance license (or the ability to obtain within a 60 days)
  • CAIB, CIP, CRM, FCIP or working towards finalizing a designation is preferred
  • 7+ Years Commercial underwriting experience &/or 3+ years Claims Experience **Additional consideration given to candidates with prior MGA experience

Salary Range $75,000-$110,000+ CAD (based on experience/qualifications)
